NEWS 37 Halton Catholic school board searching for a new education director The Halton Catholic District School Board is be ginning a search for a new leader. At the Jan. 16 board meeting, trustees accepted the retirement notice of Di rector of Education Paula Dawson effective Aug. 31. "This district has always held a special place in my heart," Dawson said in a press release. "Being appointed to the role of director of educa tion for this board in 2013 was a tremendous honour, an honour made even more special because I was com ing back home." Dawson began her ca reer in education in 1987 and has served in many roles at four Catholic school boards in Ontario - Catholic District School Board of Eastern Ontario, the London District Catho lic School Board, Welling ton Catholic District School Board and Halton. In 2013, Dawson became the sixth director of educa tion of the Halton Catholic board and its first female head, succeeding Michael Pautler. "I have enjoyed a won derful career as a Catholic teacher and leader but it is time for me to pass the torch," said Dawson. "I will be forever grateful for my association with this school board, and I wish all students, parents and staff continued success in the years ahead." "Ms. Dawson is a very talented and knowledge able Catholic educator," said Diane Rabenda, chair of the board. "For the past five years the students and staff in the Halton Catholic Dis trict School Board have been blessed with Director Dawson's leadership..." Trustees voted to com mence plans for the selec tion process of a new direc tor of education.
