Siemens is aiming to achieve a net-zero carbon footprint by 2 0 3 0 and plans to cut its carbon dioxide (C O 2) emissions in half by as early as 2020. To achieve these goals, Siemens will invest approximately $145 million over the next three years in order to reduce the energy footprint of its production facilities and buildings. This goal is largely why Siemens has also been recognized for its sustainability efforts on a global scale in 2 0 1 7 ; the company claimed top spot on the Corporate Knights list of Global 100 Most Sustainable Corporations 2017. Siemens also earned #1 on Corporate Knights' Carbon Clean 20 0 2 0 1 7 which ranks the world' s biggest 200 public companies by clean energy revenues. 10,000 trees planted The 1,500 trees to be planted this year in 12 locations across Canada, including Oakville, are among the more than 10,000 trees the company' s employees have helped plant since 2012.
