The third annual Smilezone 24-Hour Hockey Tournament, featuring men and women players aged 18 and older, will take place at Oakville' s Joshua' s Creek Arena starting Friday, April 28. The contest will have 10 teams of 15 players each playing in several games during a 24-hour period. Each team will have a celebrity or former NHL player on its roster -- including Adam Graves, Rick Vaive, Brad Boyes, B.J. Crombeen, Steve Staios, Nathan LaFayette and Rob Zamuner. The first puck drop is set for Friday at 5 p.m. on the blue rink; games will continue for 24 hours until the final buzzer sounds on Saturday, April 29 at 6 p.m. Smilezone Foundation is a registered charity that creates, builds and transforms areas in hospitals and other healthcare facilities to improve the lives of children and youth facing illness, disabilities and physical or emotional obstacles "We are extremely excited to be hosting the third annual Smilezone 24-Hour Hockey Tournament," Graves, Smilezone co-founder, said in a media release. In between games, players, family and friends can visit the Players Village on the red rink. It will feature food, an NHL playoff hockey viewing station, basketball, massage therapy, ping-pong, video games and other activities to socialize. The Smilezone 24 Hour Hockey Tournament will provide several prizes for this year' s top fundraisers, including a private box at a Toronto Raptors game and an NHL memorabilia package that includes a Mario Lemieux-signed jersey.
