From late January to December 2017, the bridge will be closed to vehicular and pedestrian traffic. A detour route around the bridge will be provided via Kerr Street, Rebecca Street and Navy Street. Pedestrian C ro sso vers New to O akville Residents and visitors will now see a new pedestrian crossover device at Navy and Church (in front of Centennial Square). This is the first of several crossovers that will be installed across town this year. It is important that everyone understands the rules around the new pedestrian crossovers. Drivers · · · · Be prepared to stop for pedestrians Stop behind the yield line Make eye contact to ensure pedestrian sees you Wait until pedestrian completely crosses road before proceeding Cyclists · When riding with traffic, follow rules for drivers · When crossing with pedestrians, follow rules for pedestrians · Dismount and walk your bike across ' -t, ' What is a pedestrian crossover? · A pedestrian crossover is a new type of crossing where drivers and cyclists are required to stop for pedestrians intending to cross the road. · Drivers and cyclists must allow the pedestrian to cross the FULL width of the road before proceeding. · Pedestrian crossovers have specific pavement markings and crossing signs. · There are three types of crossovers. The crossover at Navy and Church has poles, flashing beacons above the signs and pedestrian push buttons. · Unlike pedestrian crosswalks at traffic signal locations, at a crossover, drivers and cyclists must stop behind the yield line and wait until the pedestrian completely crosses the road before proceeding. STO P FO R PED ESTRA N S P u b lic m e e tin g Future use of Oakville Museum Coach House Tuesday, February 2, 2017 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. 6:30 p.m. - Coach House viewing (meet in Museum lobby at 8 Navy Street) 7-9 p.m. - Public Meeting In 2016 Oakville Museum undertook a consultant-led study to identify potential new uses for the Coach House on the grounds of Erchless Estates. The 117-yearold heritage building has had many roles over the years, including its most recent use as a storage facility. Now that the Museum has access to storage facilities at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre, there is an exciting opportunity to identify a new role for the building. Join us at a public meeting on February 2, 2017 to view the Coach House, learn about the recommendations in the consultant's report and provide your feedback.
