Sandwiched between two dull, rainy days, M ay 17th was the kind o f w eather that golfers love -- sunny, not too warm, with ju st a bit o f a breeze. The weather stayed perfect throughout the day and into the dinner hour. Atlas Van Lines President and C EO (and Y M CA Board of D irectors V ice-C hair) D ouglas Auld acted as M aster o f Ceremonies and presided over the awards ceremony, assisted by Bruce Ireland, CEO o f the Oakville Y and Colin Shanks, of Atlas. M en's Low Gross winner was Jamie W illiams with a 70; Ladies' Low Gross win ner was Ruth Anne W inter with a 90; and com bined Low Net W inner was Len Beech with a 55. T POSTCARDS FROMTHEY Winners of the special holes: Menis Closest to the Pin on the 4th hole -- Sean Buckley; Ladies' Longest Drive on the 6th hole -- Sandy Hale; Ladiesf Closest to the Pin on the 9th hole -- Maureen GarveyWicks; Men's Closest to the Pin on the 11th hole -- Tom Buckley; and Men's Longest Drive on the 17th hole -- Mike Ham. The Barbados Travel Authority added extra sizzle to the event by offering a trip for two with seven nightfs accom m odation at the beautiful Asta Resort, as a live auc tion item. The Silent and Live Auctions provided plenty of excitement dur ing dinner, with auctioneers Michael Pinball Clemons and Bruce Hood entertaining the crowd and raising money for the YMCA of Oakville. Net proceeds from the event was $20,425 for the Y 's 'It's Your M ove' Capital Campaign - and a great number of welldeserved compliments for the Atlas Van Lines organizers and volunteers!
