Transformational activity "A lot goes into it and it's something that completely changes your outlook on what you're doing," she said. "We touch so many people within the course of the week and we see such transformation in people from the speaking to the small projects that we're doing. "We get to work with a lot of youths as well so seeing the difference that they're making in the community, it's a huge uplifting thing that makes me proud of what we're doing at the Y," she added. YMCA Peace Breakfast Teens from Together as Girls (TAG), a self-esteem and leadership program for girls 10-16, have been helping create a banner for the Walk for Peace and arranging the centrepieces for the upcoming YMCA Community Breakfast for Peace (to be held Thursday, Nov. 19 at the Oakville Conference Centre on Wyecroft Road), and will be distributing bells throughout the community. The teens will also be creating an art installation called Red Flags that will express what empathy and peace mean to each of the girls in the program. The flags will be stitched together like a quilt and displayed at the peace breakfast. Social media campaign Meanwhile, a Just the Guys program's participants and participating high school students will be demonstrating how simple it is to perform an act of kindness and posting it to Instagram or Twitter using the hashtag #30seconds4peace. They'll also be handing out a #30seconds4peace card in hopes they will inspire others to do something nice for someone else and pass the card along.
