The 10-year-old Maple Grove student followed up a boys' under-11 doubles title at the Canadian junior squash championships Jan. 13-15 by claiming both the boys' U13 and mixed U13 doubles crowns at the U.S. junior championships the following week. Holtshousen, currently ranked second in his division by Squash Ontario, teamed with top-ranked Dylan Deverill of Cambridge to win the two boys' doubles titles. The boys also placed third in the U13 playoffs at the Canadian championships. His teammate in the mixed doubles competition at the U.S. championships was Lindsay Kuracina, who recently moved to Chicago. Coincidentally, Holtshousen and Kuracina defeated Dylan Deverill and his sister, Danica, 3-1 in the final. There was no mixed doubles event at the Canadian championships. Holtshousen's home club is the Ontario Racquet Club. Holtshousen's older brother, Dirk, also played in both tournaments with different partners in different age groups. Dirk joined forces with fellow Oakville resident Liam Watson at the Canadian championships, finishing fourth overall in the boys' U13 division.
