Elections Ontario has introduced a new website, wemakevotingeasy.ca, which highlights a number of new voting initiatives that will lengthen the voting period and allow more accessible voting. Ontarians eligible to do so by mail can use a special ballot and cast their vote at their returning office or satellite office over a period of 28 days. There will now be assistive voting technology (AVT) including audio tactile interface, paddles, sip and puff devic- es. These will allow voters who needed assistance in the past to now vote secretly. The AVTs will be at returning and satel- lite offices from Sept. 21 to Oct. 5. The wemakevotingeasy.ca provides information about what acceptable types of identification to bring to the polls, host useful apps, allow voters to find what electoral district they live in, see if they are on the voters list, find their voting location and apply for election day employment. The writ for the Oct. 6 election dropped today.
