Adults are welcome, too. What He Did . . . A Musical, performed by local talent at Joshua Crossing Evangelical Missionary Church, aims to attract youths. A pair of shows will take place on Saturday, April 3. The musical, written, directed and produced by Oakville-resident Alexandra Kane, is about Christ's final week and his last 24 hours before being crucified, followed by his resurrection. "I wanted to draw people's attention to the church and to the great music at the church," said Kane, who has also received support from her family in writing and producing the show. The 21-member cast is not exclusive to, but is predominantly, comprised of local youths. "They like the current music. The large cast was necessary, considering there are 12 disciples plus other roles. The 27-year-old Kane has a bachelor of arts degree in music from The University of Western Ontario. She was the winner of last year's Stars Among Us performing arts award hosted by the Oakville Arts Council and has a CD due for release this September. Though the musical focuses on a religious subject featuring scenes from the last supper to Christ's resurrection, for Kane it is also a way to showcase Oakville's music talent. "I hope people have a great time. I want them to see Oakville has a great bunch of talent and that it's a great place for music," she said. She noted the production has also brought more people into the church. "Music is the glue that's holding everyone together," she said. This is the first time the church has produced such a show. Money raised at the musical will go to the church's music ministry. Showtimes are 2 p.m. and 5 p.m. Tickets cost $10 at the door. The church is located at 3301 Trafalgar Rd.
