Hill (nee Nock) helped lead the University of Toronto Varsity Blues to a bronze medal in the OUA badminton finals recently at York University. She is a certified Level 3 badminton coach and serves as an assistant coach on the U of T team. Nock, who graduated from McMaster University with a Bachelor of Engineering Physics in 2005, is currently completing her Doctorate at the University of Toronto in the Department of Medical Biophysics. Hill also had the distinction of being selected as a 2010 Winter Olympic torch bearer. She carried the Olympic torch last month in Stoney Creek. Continued from page 18 The Rangers sit atop the Tri-County Hockey League standings with a 23-2-0 record. But, after falling to the Burlington Eagles in Tuesday's Richard Bell final, the Rangers are still without a tournament title. They'll gladly trade the lack of tourney titles for success in the biggest tournament of them all -- the playoffs. "We knew we had a good team that would contend for a championship," said Oakville coach Brian Fulton. "We've got great goaltending, good offensive punch and solid defence. It's a well-balanced team." The Rangers displayed all of those qualities in winning their first three games at the Bell by a combined score of 17-6. But in the final game of the round robin, the Rangers ran into a newfound nemesis in Burlington. The Rangers had beaten the Eagles (third in the Tri-County standings) in all three meetings between the teams in league play this season, shutting them out twice. But the Rangers had trouble beating Eagles goalie Sam Job, falling 3-1. The Rangers didn't have to wait long for a second chance. Less than 24 hours later, the teams met in the final. Burlington scored the lone goal of the opening period but Oakville responded early in the second when David Hayman swept in Samuel Roy's rebound. Burlington regained the lead with 9:11 to play and two minutes later picked off a pass and converted on the opportunity to make it 3-1. A late breakaway goal sealed the Eagles' victory. "Their goaltending was outstanding and they took advantage of the few mistakes we made," Fulton said. -- with files from Herb Garbutt Who Does It...
