Five Halton students earn spots at United States Skills Olympics Fâ€"alton students cleaned up at the recent Canadian Skills K. _A Olympics gleaning one gold, three silver and one bronze medal. These five medal winners now qualify to compete in the United States Skills Olympics in Kansas City June 26th to July 1st. The winners were David Talbot, Baking, General Wolfe High School, gold; Jason Drake, Mechanical Design CAD, T.A. Blakelock, silver; David Wray, Acton District High School, Architectural Design CAD, silver; Joe Goulart, General Brock High School, Bricklaying, silver; Mario Corbeil, Queen Elizabeth Park School, Cabinetmaking, bronze. Approximately 500 students from 61 boards of education and 238 schools from across Ontario competâ€" ed in the largest Ontario Skills Competition to date. Halton comâ€" petitors were entered in 23 events with the students participating in dayâ€"long competitions involving both theoretical and practical compoâ€" nents. Halton competitors dominated the podium throughout the awards cereâ€" mony as students took home seven golds, six silver medals and five bronze medals.
