Served with the Royal Hamilton Light Infantry. Awarded two Distinguished Service Orders, for bravery at Dieppe in August 1942 and following the Rhineland Campaign in the winter of 1945.
Had been wounded in Normandy July 1944. Appointed commander of the 3rd Canadian Infantry Brigade, retiring with the rank of Brigadier-General in 1951.
