"Oct. 6/08
Yesterday mornings mail brought my box of cake. Many thanks to you and Mrs. L. I divided up and we each had a piece. I am disappointed that you are not coming to F'ton but then you will another time. Someone isn't to be trusted, I shall be more careful in the future. I hope that you and Mrs. L. will have a smooth and pleasant passage.
A.M.K.
P.S. Have been thinking off and on all day of the girl whose wedding this is."
