THE OAKVILLE BEAVER June 28, 1972

Flower show winners

Theme of the Bronte Horticultural Society's June Flower Show held last Wednesday was Songs of Hawaii.

The show was held in Hopedale Presbyterian Church, Third Line, and Mrs. R.C. Kennedy convened it.

Winners were: in the specimen class, Mrs. Irene Talbot, second; and Mrs. E. Measures, third. In the second class which was a basket of flowers, Mrs. Irene Talbot was first, Mrs. Chris Buchanan, second and Mrs. Bea Peters, third.

In the decorative class, Mrs. W. Robinson was first, Mrs. R.R. Coggan, second and Mrs. Chris Buchanan, third.

Mrs. R.R. Coggan won the best in show for decorative section. Mrs. W. Robinson won the novice class.

The class which was open to non-members and featured an arrangement of flowers and flowering branches in a vase, was won by Mrs. Fred Peters of Hamilton.

There was a class which was open to all school children and one class at Gladys Speers Public School took this on as a special project and cleaned up in the prizes.

Winners in this class were Carol Moellers, Nicolas Robinson, and Stacey Connolly, all from Gladys Speers.

In the regular classes for children of members, Allison Cox won first for the best decorative in children. Kim Kristensent was second, and Timmy Fisher and David Dakers were tied for third.

In the children's specimen class, Kathy and Elizabeth Barber, two sisters, were tied for first. Scott Henderson was second and Heather Barber and Ann Rudnicki were third.
