McGAW, William R. 1929-2013 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of William "Bill" McGaw on March 3rd, 2013. A kind, generous gentleman, and `gentle' man, Bill lived a full life devoted to his family and community. His charming wit, warm smile and the impish twinkle in his eyes endeared him to all those he met. He was a true `family man' who above and beyond any of his career and community accolades considered his family to be his greatest and proudest achievement. He was and forever will be cherished and adored by his family. Bill is predeceased by his dear sister Dorothy Trumbley and his brothers-inlaw, Jack Trumbley and Seamus Faulkner whom he greatly admired. He will be dearly missed by the love of his life Aileen (nee Hewitt) McGaw with whom he shared over 60 years of love and laughter. He will be profoundly missed and lovingly remembered by his children and grand children: son Timothy, his wife Linda and daughters Sarah and Heather; son Mark, his wife Gillian and their children Thomas, Meredith & Bronwyn; daughter Shelley, her husband Gerald Grieve and their daughters Caitlin, Sydney, Meghan and Hannah; and daughter Shannon, her husband David Groff and children William and Lucretia. His loving sister Lois Faulkner will greatly miss her beloved `little' brother. His sisters-in-law, Shirley Lemon and Mary Hewitt, and his brothers-in-law, Charlie Lemon and Cliff Hewitt will remember him fondly. His many nieces and nephews will miss their Uncle Bill's playful sense of humour. Finally, all those whose lives he touched in the many roles he played as teacher, mentor, volunteer, friend, fishing buddy, neighbour, and parishioner will forever be changed and know that the world is a better place because of him. The family would like to extend their special thanks to Bill's dear friends Michael and Debbie Thompson who lovingly adopted and cared for his beloved golden retriever, `Jake'. We would also like to thank the staff at Vistamere Retirement Residence for their compassion and support during Bill's illness. A memorial celebration of Bill's life will take place at St. Jude's Anglican Church (160 William Street, Oakville) on Saturday April 13, 2013 at 2:00 pm. A further celebration will take place this summer at his birthplace of Kincardine, Ontario with details to be provided closer to the date. Bill was a generous man and committed to supporting a host of charitable foundations that made a big difference to the quality of life of people or animals. In lieu of flowers, please be generous to charities that make a difference and resonate with you. Donations can be made at www.canadahelps.org.
