PRYDE, James Douglas (Pinky) December 18, 1924 - January 10, 2013 James Douglas (Pinky) Pryde was born in Exeter, Ontario on December 18, 1924 and died peacefully, surrounded by family in his own home on January 10, 2013 in his 89th year. Beloved husband of Marjorie (Hollett), married for 57 happy years, Doug was the proud and loving father of daughter Christine (John Kalisz), son Bryan (Ann Douglas), daughter Barrie (John Platt) and daughter Judy (Bryan Bando). Doug was extremely proud of and enjoyed the love and companionship of his many grandchildren: Ben, Thomas and James Kalisz; Alex, Marcus and Stefanie Pryde; Katie and John Platt; and Samantha and Doug Brennand. Doug was brother-in-law to: Shirley Pardy and Yvonne Chafe and the late Edna Hanlon, Oswald Hollett, Goldie Jenkins, Roy Hollett, Austin Hollett, Alvin Hollett, Lorne Hollett, Verna Regular. Dear brother of the late Thomas Raymond (Ray) Pryde, John (Jack) Pryde and Robert (Bob) Pryde. He was Uncle Doug to the many nieces and nephews from the Pryde and Hollett families. Doug grew up in Exeter, Ontario, son of Thomas Pryde from Scotland (Fife) and Jennie Beswick from England (Yorkshire). Although he eventually made his way in the world, growing up in Exeter made a lasting impression on him. He enlisted in the Air Force in 1943 and spent the rest of the WWII on the West Coast of Canada. Doug met and married the love of his life, Marjorie, in Newfoundland in 1955. They returned to Ontario, where Doug began his career with Canada Packers (CP). From 1967 to 1984, he managed the CP Division Feather Industries. In 1984 Doug with partners from Singapore and Taiwan purchased Feather Industries creating Feather Industries Canada. Doug was President from 1984 until his retirement in 2004. Doug had a reputation with business associates as a man of integrity. His friends will remember him as fun-loving, an a d e q u a t e g o l f e r, a d e p e n d a b l e c o r r e s p o n d e n t a n d a p a s s i o n a t e Conservative. To his wife, children and grand children, Doug was an honest, hard-working and loving man who believed in the importance of his family. Visitation will be held at the KOPRIVA TAYLOR COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME, 64 Lakeshore Road West, (just east of Kerr St.), Oakville on Thursday, January 17th from 2 to 4 p.m. The funeral will follow on Friday, January 18th at 11 a.m. at Knox Presbyterian Church, 89 Dunn Street, Oakville. A special thank you from the family to Dr. Sears for his dedicated care of Doug over the past 18 years. In lieu of flowers, donations in Doug's name to the Firestone Clinic at St. Joseph's Health Centre in Hamilton, Ontario would be appreciated. Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com.
