RAWLINGS, Ross After a brief series of illnesses, a valiant effort at rehabilitation and enjoying a final season of his beloved Toronto Blue Jays and Toronto Argonauts, we are saddened to announce the passing of Ross Rawlings, 78 years old at the Oakville-Trafalgar Memorial Hospital on Tuesday, October 30, 2012. Ross lived a full life with grace, integrity, a laidback manner and a good sense of humour. As the owner of McCutcheon's Camera Shop in downtown Oakville for over 40 years, Ross was known to generations of Oakville residents through his store as well as through his involvement in the Oakville BIA. In the 1970's he was a founding member of Fotosource, now the largest photomarketing group in Canada. He was a long-standing member of the Oakville (downtown) Rotary Club serving them in many capacities over the years. In retirement he became actively involved in Probus (Burlington) as well as with his community and he worked tirelessly to support the groups to which he belonged. Ross will be greatly missed by his wide and varied circle of friends particularly his coffee group of over 45 years, his golfing buddies, his many, many friends in the photo industry as well as in his church and community groups. Ross leaves behind to celebrate his life and to remember him with love, humour and the occasional rum and coke, the love of his life for 55 years, Trudy; four children he was incredibly proud of: Tracy (Gary), Scott (Brigette), Kent (Lisa), Sherrin and six grandchildren he adored: Derek, Danica, Evan, Taylor, Maddy and Wyatt. He will also be lovingly remembered by his siblings: Roger (Pam), Don, Peter (Pat), Shirley, Barb (Oliver). The family would like to thank Dr. Strang, Jane, Heather, Monique, and the rest of the staff on 3E for their understanding, compassion, support and efforts during Ross' illness. Visitation will be held on Friday, November 2 from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. at the KOPRIVA TAYLOR COMMUNITY FUNERAL HOME , 64 Lakeshore Rd. W., Oakville (1 block east of Kerr St., 905-844-2600). A celebration of Ross' life followed by a reception will be held at 11:00 am Saturday November 3, 2012 at St. Elizabeth's Anglican Church, 5324 Bromley Rd, Burlington. In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to Sleeping Children Around the World or a charity of your choice. Condolences through www.koprivataylor.com
