Description:
Part of the training undertaken by members of the secret joint Canadian/American commandos later named the "Devil's Brigade," which was the First Special Service Force. Its members trained for paratrooping and sabatage missions behind enemy lines in the Second World War.
Notes:
The picture is part of a collection of photographs depicting the training of William (Bill)Charles Cutmore. Cutmore volunteered for the Force and was with it from its mission in Kiska, Alaska, to its last mission in Menton, where he was killed in action, 1944.
